Gracias to Lexington Unites for Puerto Rico Supporters

On the weekend of Sept. 20-22 Lexington Unites for Puerto Rico (LUPR) welcomed to Lexington its trusted partners from the communities of Aguadilla, Cabo Rojo and Punta Santiago in Puerto Rico. Through the hard work and generosity of many in Lexington and beyond, LUPR raised over $120,000 towards ongoing recovery efforts in Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. The weekend would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors: Sam and Nancy Altschuler, Inn at Hastings Park, Simpson Gumpertz & Heger, the DiGiammarino Family, Hancock UCC, McGinley Kalsow & Associates, Robert & Reston Kalsow-Ramos, DHK Architects, Hancock Fishermen, SKM Law Office and Union Congregational. Thanks too to businesses and organizations that contributed towards the weekend: Belmont Country Club, Martignetti Companies, Intercontinental Hotels, Ocean House, Yaucono, Cookie Time Bakery, Wilson Farms, La Veille Ferme (Perrin Family of Wines), Beaucage Salon, the Red Sox Foundation and Christina Kalsow-Ramos Designs.

Special thanks to Pedro Sifre PE for an excellent presentation on the state of the island at the second anniversary of Hurricane Maria. Thank you to the many volunteers that contributed to a successful Gala with their time, talents and dedication, and to all attendees that contributed to transform communities in Puerto Rico with their generosity. To Fabiola Mendez and her trio and Carlos Cabrera and his quartet thank you for exceptional music during the weekend events. To all who participated in the Interfaith worship service on Sunday evening, including Rev. Dr. Paul Shupe and Rev. David Clark from Hancock UCC, Rabbi Howard Jaffe from Temple Isaiah and Rabbi David Lerner from Temple Emunah, we are most grateful.

And finally, we owe a deep debt of gratitude to our trusted partners from Puerto Rico, Revds. Gloria Montalvo and Alfredo Pabón from CCR in Cabo Rojo, Padre José Colón from Nuestra Senora del Carmen in Punta Santiago, Cynthia Hilerio and Wilkins Torres from Tercera in Aguadilla, Tony Torres, President Fishermen Association, Punta Santiago for their continuous work in the recovery efforts in their communities, and to the Hancock Church community and Lexington Interfaith Clergy Association for their unwavering support.

With gratitude,

Carmen Ramos-Kalsow, Robin DiGiammarino, Susan McClements
